THE PEACE FORMULA

My approach to conflict coaching is to break down the mediation process and make it more accessible for people who need it for everyday issues. Clients can decide to either do a quick check in with me, if they are familiar with conflict resolution skills and need feedback on if they are applying it correctly. Or use an hour developing a plan of action and possible responses in real time that they would take to implant in the situation. for ongoing persistent problems. I fuse the Igbo cultural conflict resolution idea of peace as a ritual, as a repeated practice, with current theories of deconstructing conflict.

What I do

As a conflict coach, I isolate a part of the mediation session called caucusing and I consult you solely on the conflict you bring to me. Whilst in a mediation I would bounce back between the 2 sides involved, reframing and communicating each side’s grievances, in a consulting coaching session I would be working with you to develop strategies for you to try out on your own, as your own mediator in your conflict. If the conflict persists and the other party agrees to a mediation I also offer those services, with the understanding that it requires equal buy in to keep things fair and the caveat that, just because we have worked together individually does not guarantee the mediation will go in your favor as the goal is always to remain neutral, fair, just and honest.
